Standing all alone on a cloud

The Saint’s Sin

So this is the music post for my song “The Saint’s Sin,” who I also wrote a story for that you can read here: The Saint’s Sin

I have to say that the picture on SoundCloud for the song probably is a better fit for the story rather than the song. The whole garden thing probably won’t make sense to you without the story, so not quite the perfect fit, but it will have to do… 😉

This is actually the first song that I posted on the internet, before this I had only been enjoying making music on my own here in Norway. Mostly just singing with my guitar, back then I didn’t own a ukulele 😦

I posted the song on a website and asked for help for mixing it all together. It was then just a recording with me singing and playing the guitar, and I thought it might be fun to get other people involved. Although the song also does work pretty well with just the guitar and singing. Still I thought that it also might be fun with more instruments and hopefully it would end up being an even better song. However up to this point I had mostly been doing music on my own, not even showing it to my friends, so the whole internet thing was pretty scary too be honest…

I did post the song and since it got a lot of feedback and a lot people wanted to contribute it all felt worth it in the end. So now there has been some silly GIFs in the post to lighten the mood, but I guess the song does sound pretty serious…

I don’t know if I have gotten lazy over the years, but it think I must have put a lot of effort into the lyrics back then. 🙂

The Saint’s Sin

So the rain is dripping heavy on my shoulders right now.
Is it God who’s crying now or is it just another saint thrown out?
I know how he feels,
standing all alone on a cloud,
angels passing him by,
what he used to be was all a lie.
Let the suckers laugh he’ll survive.

So now he’s fallen down from the sky,
and he can’t live and he can’t die,
and all he wants to do is to play his music to feel alive,
but the saint got no fingers left,
they cut them all off.
Cause his music’s too bright and too clear,
when he plays the sun appears.
Its beauty will sweep you away,
even the voice of God becomes unclear.

So that was the saint’s sin
So that was the saint’s sin
So that was the saint’s sin

To make music that could make you feel like God.
Let the suckers laugh he’ll survive.

So the saint is sitting in the gutter,
and he cries and he cries and he cries,
cause he can’t make music no matter how hard he tries.
As his tears hits the pavement they make beautiful tingling sounds,
the most beautiful sounds you’ve ever heard,
as the saint is crying he brings music to the world.

So that was the saint’s sin
So that was the saint’s sin
So that was the saint’s sin

Now music can make you feel like God.

It also a story too though. The story of a song and your relationship with it and with music. The arrangement works really well, not too much over-production, the other artists haven’t overwhelmed the delicate song. You’ve let us into the tale of the song and how music fills us, takes us away!
