It feels like autumn is closing in on us in Norway. Strange how quickly things can change, it has been a really warm summer in Norway -we’re talking like the warmest/driest summer in 50 years- and suddenly it just doesn’t quite feel like summer anymore. The temperature is slowly falling and we all know what is coming…. (By the way even if summer is great, I’m all for autumn as well, I can already here the fireplace crackling and see myself sitting there with a cup of cocoa 😉)
Therefore, with this autumn feeling all around me I thought it might suit the mood to have a music post with a song with a more dramatic and darker atmosphere, so this music post is about Quiet in the Dark. This is a song from the olden days (?) in 2015, so we’re back to the time when I did more collaborations. Erwan Grandais has composed the music and I have made the lyrics/vocals. It is always a bit different to make lyrics for somebody else’s composition, but I thought this music composition was very interesting, so I gave it a go 😊
I have already written a MyStoriesWithMusic-post for the song, and you can read the story here: Quiet in the Dark… however I have to admit that this song has always had a very strong story in the lyrics for me, and not necessarily the story that I wrote for the post. The song has a lot of “grandeur” to it, almost being a bit pompous, so I could see the story taking place in an old mansion as a tragic love story. I imagine this creature living in the old mansion being a normal person at night but becoming a monster every morning. It would then walk around the empty mansion looking for the person it loved, not really wanting to find this person as it then would end badly. All very melodramatic of course 😉
Quiet in the Dark
Is it morning now?
Are you already up?
Are you waiting for me?
You should have gone
while you had your chance
You should have left me
So, I get up and go
to find you and teach you
why you shouldn’t stay
It is time to run
Just run now
Just get away
Oh, hush be quiet now
Quiet in the dark
Oh hush, oh hush
Where are you hiding?
Hush, hush
Don’t say a word
So I’m walking now
Walking through the house
All empty rooms
Whispering your name
Trying not to find you
Cause we both know now
this is not gonna end
the way you want it to
It is time to run
Just run now
Just get away
Oh, hush be quiet now
Quiet in the dark
Oh hush, oh hush
Where are you hiding?
Hush, hush
Don’t say a word
Oh, hush be quiet now
Quiet in the dark
Oh hush, oh hush
Where are you hiding?
Hush, hush
Don’t say a word
Oh, hush be quiet now
Quiet in the dark
Oh hush, oh hush
Where are you hiding?
(So the dog is just here because I thought it would be good to end on a happy autumn note 😉 )

You have even have a dark quality to your voice on this one! Very dark but so fits the music! (So glad you added the dog though, I like happy endings!). Autumn seems to be arriving in the UK too, berries on the bushes and some colours changing. I love all seasons though so that’s ok! Thank you for sharing your work with us, wonderful!
