Making music

Hi
I hope you’re all doing well! Like I announced to you guys I will be making more posts about the music while it is being created, and this is the first one. I did work on some of my music projects this weekend and I’ll let you listen in on a sample if you want to. 😊 I have also had too much fun with the Wacom tablet manipulating pictures and creating little drawings, so I will throw some of them into this post as well. So let’s get started with this sample of my new song:

I have no idea how the song will end up or what kind of lyrics I will write for it, if you have any thoughts on the song, let me know 😊. I almost always create the lyrics after the melody (probably for no better reason than that it is easier…). The mood of the song is I guess more like the fall, so a change of seasons in my music as well it seems.

Strangely making music feels very different for me than writing a story. I start out the process with high expectations (Beautifully illustrated by these hot air balloons, painted by my computer from a picture – Yes, my computer is more talented than me, as you can see my drawing underneath 😉).

This is truly how it feels like before I actually start. I think it will be easy. No problem. Getting the music in my head created with my skills is no big deal… until I actually try to do it…

Not quite what I was thinking- welcome to the land of “everything is freaking difficult” …

(On a side note does my cartoon kind of look like a person from ancient Greece? It kind of does, and the arms are definitely not anatomically correct 😉 )

Getting things to sound like you want them to can be quite challenging…When I am writing I enjoy the process as much as the finished product, this really isn’t true for when I am making music (probably because I don’t have enough skills yet). I always feel like I won’t be able to make anything worth listening to, until I suddenly feel like I might have. The picture underneath might be a good illustration of how we would like to think of inspiration- when it all comes together 😊

And then how inspiration probably really is like…

Cute though 😉

I hope you enjoyed the music sample and that you will follow along on the posts to see how the song ends up 😊

Good foundation! Careful not to have too many layers. I tend to play too many tracks in a song which could be the source of my overwriting stuff. 🙂 The drawing is very ancient Greek or Roman but the arms are ok if you think of them wrapped around yourself. Giving yourself a hug for a riff well composed!

The melody has a chill vibe on it; I like it! I also make music. But since I failed to learn any instrument in the past, I just try to hum and record the tunes that pop up my head. (Weird right?) Then, my musician friends would take a look into it and make a more decent melody.

And like you, I also deal with the lyrics later. 🙂
