New Song

Happy Musical Monday to everyone 😊

(Although that name does make me think of an actual musical
which isn’t exactly what I’m going for I guess) – Happy Music Monday maybe 😉

It is time for the new song I have made, just like I promised, and here it is: “Hey, hey my love.”

It isn’t the happiest song, but I like it, I think it even might have a story that wants to be told. I hope you like it too, and if you have any feedback, I’d be glad to hear it 😊. I might even make another version of the song.

This song is made with digital instruments which is very practical since there are so many instruments to choose from. I play the melody I want on a “keyboard” that is attached to my Mac and then I can have different instruments play my original melody. The sessions do tend to become pretty large even for simple songs like this one.

The vocals tend to almost always be from the first recordings, ironically because I always do many recordings to make sure that I have something to choose from. However, my voice tends to become “lighter” and “lighter” the more I sing, so I usually go for the first recordings because I always feel like they sound “warmer”.

This is how it looks with the effects on the song. Everything from compressors to reverb. A good example of reverb would be in the chorus where I have two different recordings playing at the same time on the: “Hey, hey my love”, and it sounds like the room suddenly has gotten very big 😊. Sometimes effects like that might be too much, but it can be fun to play around with.

Hey, hey my love

So it seems

when promises made must be broken

It’s one of those days

I just didn’t see it coming

Didn’t think I would leave

Now it seems I will leave and we’ll never know what this could be

*

Hey, hey my love, you’ll find somebody else I know

Hey, hey my love, you’ll find somebody else I know

*

I’m not crying

Not even looking down

I just say the words then I turn around

You just didn’t see it coming

Now I will have to leave

Seems like this future isn’t gonna be what I thought it would be

*

Hey, hey my love, you’ll find somebody else I know

Hey, hey my love, you’ll find somebody else I know

*

I close my eyes

Try to breathe

A new day will come for me

I just didn’t see it coming

Didn’t think I would leave

This other life seems so different I just cannot believe

*

Hey, hey my love, you’ll find somebody else I know

Hey, hey my love, you’ll find somebody else I know

*

Have a great Music Monday! 😊

The first attempts always have the best feel, despite technical flaws (mine is mostly pronunciation :D) I can totally relate to that! Thank you for sharing the process of making your music. I also write songs. I only use amateur guitar play with my not-so-a-singer voice. Hahaha. Great works!
