Struggling musician 😉

Hi

I just wanted to drop by and update you a bit on my music. So, despite that I look pretty happy on the picture (not really comfortable with taking an angry selfie yet…  😉) I would say that I am struggling a bit with a song right now. Probably because I have had a bit of a break from making music, and then it takes some time to get into it again. The song I am working on now…. I am not so sure that it will be finished. I am not in love with the first part of the song to say it mildly, and nothing fits with anything. The verses of the song really don’t fit with the chorus, they sound like they are a part of two different songs…

Yeah… sounds great, doesn’t it? I guess I just need to get into “the groove again”, try to work with the music every day (or at least every other day). Only way to get good at something is to do it often, right? 😊 Anyways, I’ll let you hear a little part of it if you want to. This is from the second verse … which is probably the part that I am most okay with. I think I will let this song “rest” for a while and try to work on something else, maybe I will get back to it later.

Sample of new song – second verse

If you want to listen to some of my finished songs you can go to my Download Music page, and I will also put two of them here 😊

I have to do that with my poetry all the time, Hilde. Sometimes you just to need to set something aside and come back to it. May be you are trying to force, what should really be two songs, into one. I understand and feel your struggle. Take a breath, calm your mind, and remember this is a small hurdle, not a mountain. ❤

I mean, I really like it! I just think it’s incredible that you can decide to write a song and sit and write it in a go to begin with, most of the time for me, I can only write something after inspiration’s hit.
Good luck, and I hope to find your rhythm! 😀

Personally, what I love about your music is how authentic and close to the real, unplugged acoustics it sounds. There is little editing and it just feels right. Don’t even worry about the inspiration, it will hit again with the right ideas when it’s recharged. And I absolutely love your voice. That being said, I do wish I could hear more clarity from the vocals, especially the highs and the treble just a tad more. The mids are amazing. It would help to shed a bit more of that deserved spotlight on your voice and then the feeling of sitting next to you at a campfire, just dreaming and listening would hit perfectly. Maybe that’s just what I hear from my DT880s (which are kind of made for analysis and post-production) but maybe it’s some compression from WordPress itself. Either way, keep it up! Great work! :))

Nice work. Songwriting can be an exercise of waiting, struggling, editing, re-writing….fixing syncopation and transitions…all the while building a visual story.
Sometimes, not easy as you know. Each song is a mystery waiting to be revealed.
