Masterminds are a powerful way for artists to connect with each other and benefit from the experience of other members. I joined a Mastermind 2 years ago and had no idea how powerful they could be. My recommendation is to choose one peppered with people further along who pull you up!

This is a great example of how the indie's can move from the "struggling, knocking on venue's doors and playing for supper" to becoming professional musicians. It reinforces an undercurrent of all your posts; if you want to survive, you need to earn money. If you want to earn money, you need to be a professional. If you want to be a professional, you need to consider the business side as well as the artistic side.
A good metaphor is rowing a boat. Your left oar is your artistic efforts. Your right oar is your professional. Solely focussing on either will have you going around in circles.
